Guest review: Paul on Endomondo

Hi MyTinyPhone`s blog readers: )

Today is the first day when one of MyTinyPhones regular user makes a blog post. Paul contacted us and wanted to pitch in and write a review of a Blackberry app and we are more than happy to let him do that. And if you guys have something to say let us know and we`ll publish you:)

Now, without further ado.. here`s Pauls review:

Have you ever been running or cycling and having no clue just how much miles have your eager little legs covered, i know i have. Some clever dudes have developed Endomondo app that solves that issue and more.
The deal is simple- download the app – endomondo.com can direct you to the appropriate app store, install, register an account, put on a funky headband and start running.
Start the app and select your sport: running cycling, skiing or whatever you are doing and press start.

Endomondo tracks your route by gps and when you finish the app uploads the results and you can see them when logged in to endomondo.com. It`s that easy.
The cool thing is that besides time and distance you can see the characteristics of the entire workout. The clever chart at the bottom shows you the graph of the speed and the altitude change during the run- cool eh. The route is displayed on google maps and the most awesom thing about this app is that you can see training routes of other people around you so discovering better places for workout is supereasy end if you want to meet sporty singles then you can accidentally end up on the same jogging route as the cute girl that lives two blocks away;)

Some awesomeness from the interweb

Have you seen the tiny TV in the corner? Well, if you have and if you already know what this is all about then good. But if not then you just have to check it out- it`s a new cool social TV site called TVmad and it is freaking AWESOME- almost as cool as an anteater with a fish!

Tons of really good channels with music, movies, TV series and user-generated shows.

Go check it out or the anteater will be sad.

Finding Out The Best Blackberry Browser

Since we have seen a rapidly growing amount of Blackberry users visiting our site I decided to find out which browser is currently the best BlackBerry browser available. For testing I used a brand new Blackberry 9700 Bold (v5.0.586) with Wi-Fi connection.  In addition to the BlackBerry HotSpot browser I`ll be testing the Opera Mini 5.0, Bolt 2.10 and a brand new uZard Web 2.0.3 which is still in BETA stadium and it`s results shouldn`t be taken too seriously.  All browsers are used in their default settings.

Let`s start the test by comparing the startup time.

The Blackberry browser is the clear winner here since it loads instantly. Opera Mini takes the longest but since it packs the most features it is to be expected. Also the uZard Web loads up extremely fast considering the fact that this is still a beta version.

For our second test I chose my local bank`s home page since it`s quite large in size and very complex for a web page. There is no mobile version when visiting it from a phone so it`s quite a handful. Since we are running the browsers in their default settings then the uZard gets its long loading time from the fact that it`s the only browser that can(and will!) display the huge flash banner in the top of the web page. Opera Mini clearly wins this match being the fastest browser by far and also the way it displays the huge html page is by far the most convenient. The Bolt comes second. If the Opera manages to reorder the page so that you wouldn`t even know there is a huge banner in the middle of the page then the Bolt just leave a huge blank space there which is not the best way to handle the situation. Blackberrys own browser creates a load of different scrollable side-bars and makes the page very difficult to navigate. Opera Mini takes this round and Blackberrys own browser is the worst of the bunch in this test.

For the third test I`ll log in to the bank account so that the browser starts to use secure connection. Even though there are no big flash banners or images here the uZard has a really hard time handling the situation but finally manages to come through. Again, Opera Mini is the fastest.

Finally I fire up our very own MyTinyPhone main page. Keep in mind that we have a mobile version located at m.mytinyphone.com so there is basically no need for you to load our big page on your mobile! Although the Blackberry browser seems to finally shine here it botches up the page leaving a huge white area right in the middle of the page. This is something that we need to look into from our own side as well but all the other browsers managed to display the site correctly.  Both Bolt and uZard show the page as it`s supposed to be but Opera for some reason only gives a zoomed in version so in this test i`d say that the Bolt is the one I`d choose.

The newest kid on the block the beta version of the uZard Web shows some promise with its flash support but comes off as slow and awkward.

Although Bolt performs quite well and even has tabbed browsing it felt to me a bit too robust and unresponsive at times.

Blackberrys own browser is the one i`d choose if I needed to check out something really quickly as it loads up instantly but for anything heavier the Opera Mini is the one to choose. Even though it takes quite a while to boot up it packs a heavy punch and manages to be extremely easy to use.

Keep in mind that this was all done with Wi-Fi connection, for 3G the results may be totally different and I`ll test that out soon.

Finally here`s a happy anteater with his Opera – currently the best BlackBerry browser available:

New AWESOME Updates on MyTinyPhone!

Hey hey hey, as always we have some kickass news for you. We completely redid our “Search” function.

What this means is that when you do a search on our search page you`ll actually search all the content of YouTube and you can turn those videos right into ringtones with the click of a button. Also you can do the same with Flickr pictures and turn those suckers right into wallpapers! No more downloading files, uploading them again, re-downloading… . With one search you`ll get access to millions of videos and pictures and have them on your phone with just a few clicks!

IF THIS ISN`T AWESOME THEN I DON`T KNOW WHAT IS!?! (except anteaters ofcourse)

Also we apologize for the site being down for a while in the last week :( but we believe that we have it fixed now and better than ever!

BLACKBERRY ALERT!!!

Yeah BlackBerrys are frickin` cool and we love them too! We have been very busy adding new content especially for BlackBerry users! Check out these BlackBerry themes and be on the lookout for more soon to come!  We are listening to all you BB people out there who are telling us that we need to be more BlackBerry friendly!

MyTinyPhones Facebook Photo Contest Is Over And Mobile Site Is Launched! Here Are The Winners!

Few weeks ago we launched a contest in MyTinyPhones facebook page to celebrate our…well MTPs birthday!facebook

Basically what you had to do was to add pictures of yourself in a party to the fb page, ask your friends to join and have them “like” the photo. Between the 10 most “liked” pictures would give out three Amazon gift cards to buy yourself something awesome. Also we`d give out another gift card for every 500 new fans.

It was fun while it lasted and in case you missed it here are the winners:

The $20 Amazon gift cards for every extra 500 fans go to:

Shannon Hoge

Allison Cullum

Zach Larson

And the main prizes from the photo contest go to:

$50 Amacon ‘gift card goes to Julia “Julie” Martina

$30 Amazon gift card goes to Angela Strawser

$20 Amazon gift card goes to Carissa Johnson

With it is over our birthday and also this marks the launch of our mobile page at m.mytinyphone.com.

This should make your life a lot easier when visiting MyTinyPhone directly with your phone. The m.mytinyphone.com is made from the ground up to be the best possible solution for mobile phone access. You can get absolutely everything done from download to upload or even checking your wall in just a few clicks. Another great feature about the mobile site is its size. For one thing it loads up lighting fast and what`s especially cool about this is that people who do NOT have unlimited bandwidth will save a fortune on their mobile bill as the new mobile site will take up just a fraction of your bandwidth.

The debug team

We had our top debugging personnel on it for a while so it should be running smoothly but if you find that something is not working right then let us know by posting in the forums or leave a comment here.

A Beginners Guide To Monetize Your Facebook Page (with MyTinyPhone.com!)

In this post, i`m going to show you an example on how to use MyTinyPhone.com (MTP) to create your own Facebook page and how to fill it with content constantly and finally how to make money from it.

Firstly you need to create a Facebook group.

Log in to your FB account, look on the left side and find where it says Groups. Click on it and then select “Create a Group”

Fill out everything you can and make it sound like THE place for the freshest mobile related content on the web.

Now go to your MTP profile page and click on “Social alerts” and add your Facebook account to it. Since the social alert thingy is not really ready yet then your updates will only be shown on your own wall and you will have to copy them to your page wall. What you should do here is that you reply to your own wall post by saying something like “Check out my Mobile Media page for more free apps and games etc…[link].

Do NOT invite your friends to join just yet. Create some content there first!

Find your niche! Funny pictures, videos or useful apps, games, mobile security related stuff etc… be creative!

Find latest news about the topic and post in on the wall. Write a guide on how to solve some problems (search “problem with[keyword]).

Add YouTube videos to it or better yet create your own. Now create or find related wallpapers, ring tones, themes etc and add them all via MTP. They can also be used to advertise your page, just include a link to you somewhere!  Then upload useful apps and games to your MTP account. All these get directly sent to your wall!

Now you have created a viable source of information. All that’s left is to find people to join it!

Be sure that you have named the page well so that it comes up in the Facebook search easily. Send invitations to all your friends. Advertise it in related communities.

In addition search the keywords related to your topic in Google and find places in where you can advertise your page.

You can also buy some Facebook ad space. If your keyword has low competition then it`s quite cheap and if you have some money to invest then do so.

Once you have some followers you can start to monetize your page.

First sign up with Google Adsense, that way you will earn revenue for ads placed on your YouTube videos that people click. This is called PPC.

Another way is to sell views. People are willing to buy views to their YouTube videos to get them to rank better. You can sell these in eBay for an example. A simple Google search “buy YouTube views” will show you many additional places.

Paid surveys. You can get paid a lot of money if people fill out the surveys you referred them to. This is called CPA. You can start from here.

Affiliate marketing! Just head over to Clickbank and find related affiliate products. Make sure that they really are good and post a review of them in the wall with a link to purchase. If you`d prefer to promote “real” products then also Amazon has an affiliate program.

You can not use the last two methods often as people don`t really like to be sold things but if you keep the amount of useful and cool free things you offer high then you can get away with a few very profitable affiliate links once in a while. Just be sure that you don`t overdo it.

The Youtube way is a good thing to do often as it`s quite safe. Facebook is getting more and more strict about people using their fb pages to promote affiliate products and anything similar. Be sure to use these methods with caution as it`s quite easy to get your page closed. Make sure that your followers are happy so that they`ll not report the little bit shady links you send out once in a while.

If you are serious about making money online with the niche you selected then you should keep the Facebook page only for free stuff and news. When you find that you have enough followers start your own blog about the niche and connect the two. Then you can use the blog to advertise all the stuff that makes you money and the facebook page to keep people around who want the free stuff and who will bring in more fans (likers?).

Final Jedi anteater tip – People make loads of money from iPhone clones. Find a place that does dropshipping (like this one) and set up your own iPhone clone business!

Sign up with PayPal and make a sellers account (real easy) then create a button that you place on your blog or just create a plain sales page which you can shout out in FB. When they purchase the phone you`ll get all the shipping info you need to order the phone from the original seller and make decent money for basically doing nothing!

Be creative, says the Jedi!

Hello (mobile) World And Future Tribe Leaders!

Today is the day that marks the launch of our very own blog. But what`s even more important is that we have also launched our brand new profile page with lot`s of awesome features that I`d like to review in this post. I`ll come back to the profile page and especially the tribe leader part in the heading in a bit.

The MTP blog is launched with two goals in mind. Firstly we will keep you updated on the mobile scene from our own viewpoint. We don`t get into how many Mhz faster is the chip in this new model compared to the previous one or how much RAM it has. We will tell you if it`s any good for social media use, customizations, gaming and so on. We will have in-house reviews and give you the news that you care about. Ofcourse we will keep you updated on MyTinyPhone doings.

Secondly we are here for you. We want to help you out with everything that`s even remotely related to mobile phones. Problems with apps, you want to get a live video feed of your grandmother on your phone or simply ask what new phone has the most bang for the buck…just send us a message via email or reply to any blog post you find and we`ll get on it!

OK, now let`s talk about the long-awaited profile page of which we are quite proud of. Sure it probably has some bugs that we didn`t manage to catch but hey, that`s where you can help us out. If you find something that is not working or just seems wrong then tell us and we`ll get busy fixing it right away (or in a week at least!).

Firstly the most obvious feature is the new profile page starting with the Facebook like wall which keeps track of everything you and your friends do on the site. You`ll see what`s sizzling hot right now and you can get it right away. You can also comment on updates from your friends or on your own activities. Just hit “Subscribe to user” after clicking users avatar and you`ll be connected. This is an awesome way to easily find new friends with similar interests. Check out who has downloaded your favorite ringtones and subscribe to them. There are lot`s of awesome people here on MTP, get connected!

We have also made it a lot easier for you to really give your profile page your own personality. You can upload way more pictures of yourself or just pictures of whatever you think is worth sharing. We have also made the interests page a little bit better to see so please take a minute to fill it out so that whoever is visiting your profile can see how freaking awesome you really are!
Bring your friends along! Now you have the option to invite your Facebook or Gmail (and basically friends from every social network and email providers known to mankind) contacts to join you in MyTinyPhone with a click of a button.

Now, let`s get to the most interesting part…

We`ll roll out very soon a little thing called MyTinyPhone`s social alerts. Although at first glance this seems like a small widget to keep your non-MyTinyPhone friends updated with your doings here, very much like the wall does inside MTP what it actually can do to an advanced user is much much more. But I´ll get more into it when it`s finished and fully working. Let`s just say that there is an opportunity to create something you can later make money off from.

Finally look at this awesome anteater.
